Since 1990, Titan has been building, perfecting and testing its proprietary catalytic process that transforms pyrolysis (i.e., a method for vaporization of organic wastes) into a low-temperature, low-cost, energy efficient technology which cannot be approached by any other to efficiently eliminate the environmental hazards of scrap tires. Entering a recycling market with a new procedure is an uphill battle. Those locked into the past, unable to envision the value of new technology and unable to break away from the pack and try something new will continue to use low-tech methods such a shredding whole tires into little pieces and accumulating them into big piles, bundling scrap tires to form artificial reefs, producing crumb rubber, using rubber in road beds, dock bumpers, swings, burning rubber tires for fuel in cement kilns, and even as building materials in energy-efficient house walls. All require no vision however they are well understood. Only 23% of U.S. scrap tires are reused in any way, many of them exported, the rest are increasingly being banned from overcrowded landfills. Yet Federal and State governments continue to provide funds to “Study the Problem” or “Re-design change” thus not making it advantageous to come up with a solution to the problem.
Tertiary recycling is in its infancy and Titan has the ability to take this technology where it is needed, do things that haven’t been done before, and provide an incredible future. Just like anything new it begins with a very small base of customers. It will take visionaries who can see themselves successful, those who want to be the first out of the Starting Gate, or those who are first at the Finish Line.
